Zediwa Louro: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Inspiration: Creativity. Passion: Love. Strength: Women.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

Hmm. Im a lover, a very passionate person who's always looking to grow and become a better version of myself. Im a feminist who advocates for women everyday, but still a sucker for a charming man. Im a peacemaker, but not afraid to let someone know when they’ve crossed the line! I’m really like a walking enigma, with so many different layers, which can confuse most people, but regardless, I love it and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Why do you do what you do?

I get a rush from putting together the ultimate outfit for someone. So even if Im at work styling a 60 yr old woman for her sons wedding, or putting together an outfit for a styling gig on the side, its always fun for me. I get to be my most creative and I love it.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

I’ve always loved fashion ever since I was a child. I would grab my brothers jerseys and make jersey-dresses out of them or color-coordinate my outfits at the age of 11. Like I always loved the fact that I could express who I am through clothing. And once I started styling my friends, I learned I had a liking for it and wanted to do it over and over again.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

Hmm, probably finding people who are likeminded. The fashion industry is very big, but to find people who not only love their craft but enjoy working hard at it, is very rare. But I think with time, patience and persistence, I was able to find some great people who have helped me get to where I am now.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

I know I talk a lot about Beyonce, but honestly through watching her career and just seeing how hard she works as a woman, I’ve learned to apply that same work ethic in anything that I do in my life. Its so important to stay grounded, keep learning and always stay hungry in this business, and I try to remember those things throughout this journey. I like to think I inspire people everyday. Just through being kind, being fashionable, staying true and being genuine. I think through those actions, I inspire people to also do the same.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

I think one mistake that I learned from my journey, would be me taking my art so seriously that I forget to have fun. I remember shooting for my blog and just being so focused on getting the right shots that I would forget to interact with the people on set. Just looking back at those types of moments, Ive learned that living in the moment and having fun as well as working hard, is important.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

Well Im working on something big that I’d rather not say, just because I dont wanna jinx it. But its huge and when the time is right, people will know about it. I think it’ll really take me and my career to the next level, so Im excited.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Figure out what you want in this life and go after it. Nothing is impossible, the world is yours.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Exhaust all avenues at all times. This is my mantra and can be used in any avenue: whether your a housewife, or you’re killing it in your work field - work hard everyday and give it all you’ve got.
