The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

There’s only one word and that’s my mom. She perfectly embodies all three words in my eyes. She has been through a lot but still manages to continuously go above and beyond with everything she does. Not only is she my biggest support system but she’s the reason I’m where I am and who I am today. Her constant strength motivates me to be a better version of myself everyday. I can’t thank her enough for inspiring me the way she has and will continue to do.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question) // Why do you do what you do?

I’m an 18 year old fitness enthusiast from Toronto, who’s established her own brand so that she can inspire a generation to genuinely love and care for their bodies. I plan to be the voice for the voiceless. I created Fit With Trys as an outlet for me to merge my dance training, my love for working out, and my passion to inspire people. I am also a first year student at Ryerson University for Media Production so that one day I can produce and star in my own fitness reality show. I’ve got lots to learn in my program, so until then the world will be my show. It’ll be my new challenge. To inspire.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

I established my brand in August of 2014, where I was getting ready to finish my last year of high school. As Fit With Trys began to further develop and I collaborated with brands such as PumpUp App and Nike Women, I was asked to teach training and conditioning classes to the students and dance majors at my school. I attended to Earl Haig Secondary School as a Claude Watson Dance major where I partook in the specialized program from grade 9 to grade 12. I didn’t have (and still don’t have) my personal training certification, but the head of the dance department was familiar with my excellent work ethic and felt I was the perfect person to train the dancers. It was through teaching the grade 11 and grade 12 dance majors and later teaching dance/fitness classes to kids 5 - 12, doing influencer work with Nike Women from May 2015 - July 2015 and further enhancing my platform that I realized that this is exactly what I wanted to do.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

Realistically, the hardest thing I had to overcome was getting started. Have you every heard of an 18 year old fitness enthusiast determined to inspire an entire generation? I haven’t. I knew I didn’t want to just be one of those girls who post pics of themselves in sports bras and booty shorts, I wanted my posts to have substance. To make a difference. Once my logo was created and people started recognizing it, I was a little more comfortable but not 100%. It was after my first “fan mail” email that I realized I was on the right track. The email was from a girl in Alberta, who had also battled depression and was looking for an outlet. She thanked me for inspiring her to look at life through a different lense and asked if I could continue to post more workout videos because she found that working out allowed her to focus on becoming a better version of herself.. In time, I knew I would eventually inspire an entire generation.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

To be honest, I don’t know anyone else who has done what I’ve done at 18 but looking at other empowering women in the field there certainly is one that comes to mind. Sasha Exeter. She completely embodies who I want to be in 2 years. She is a lifestyle and fitness blogger that is in simple terms, killing the game!

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

If there’s one thing I think I’ve done wrong it’s doubting myself. Sharing my story wasn’t an easy choice for me and in fact I was scared beyond measures. But why? Because I didn’t know how people might respond, I didn’t know what they would think of me afterwards. But realistically, that’s life. Not everyone is going to support you 110%, people will always have something negative to say, and you might not always like it. It’s those negative words, that propel you to be a stronger and better version of yourself. And that’s exactly what I learned. Not only were there more positive reactions than negative ones but I learned that the negative ones are there to get me down and they win if I let them affect me. But at this point, I can’t. I have one goal and I’m going to achieve with or without their negativity.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

As I mentioned, I’m in the midst of completely my first year of university and that’s already consuming 99.9% of my times. But one thing I’m really aiming for before the end of 2015 is to get my personal training certification and hopefully be the first 18 year old to have it. I’ve been saying I want to get it for weeks now but haven’t really wrapped my head around sitting down for hours and opening a 700 page textbook. But it’s definitely my next big goal. If I could give any one advice, I’d say STOP PROCRASTINATING. Where does it get you? No where. Set your goal and achieve.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)
