The 97: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

I would say the first thing that comes to mind is Toronto. Lately a lot of inspiration has been coming from the city and the passion the people are showing. Currently we are also putting out some of the strongest music, art etc. as a community.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

Well, my name is Dragan and the simple answer could be an 18 year old photographer from Oakville. However I think I'll be spending the rest of my life figuring out who I am and what I was put on this earth to do. Thats the best part of life, its a journey that never ends.

Why do you do what you do?

I only do things that make me happy and challenge me to better myself. If you're doing something that makes others happy and you're not actually enjoying it, then you're doing it all wrong.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

At the age of 16 I was playing soccer at a professional academy in Italy, I came home during the summer and unfortunately I tore my ACL. Life took a turn on me and presented me with a challenge. I had a lot of free time on my hands, suddenly that time I would spend playing soccer turned into thinking negatively and contemplating giving up on my dreams. Then one day a close friend of mine and messaged me and asked me if I would want to help him with a photography project. Slowly but surely I started to gain interest in photography after that project, and I invested in my own camera and never looked back.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

I always had a problem overthinking things, before I could convince myself to buy a camera I had to convince myself that this something that I wanted to pursue. Because all my life I always thought soccer was the only thing I was truly passionate about. So it was hard to convince myself that I was equally as passionate about something as creative as photography.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

I look up to many people, but the only visual artist that has truly inspired me and is someone that I really look up to is Visionelie. Not only as a photographer but as a human being.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

Not picking up photography earlier in my life.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

Laying low for now and keeping everything low key.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

One thing that I'll never do in life is wastee my own time doing something that I don't enjoy. The only advice that I could give is that I wish everyone could pursue their dreams. You only have one life and you shouldn't waste it doing something that doesn't bring you happiness.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Lay low
