The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Unexpected, Timeless, Resolve

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

I’m a son. A brother. A DJ. A friend and I’m in a constant state of flux and mindful of this.

Why do you do what you do?

To spot the one person in the crowd that through the music has the moment where time stands still, they literally dance like no one is watching and their inhibitions are gone.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

Back when I was a teenager in the 90’s I always thought it would be cool to be the DJ.  I dabbled and did some emcee work, however the barriers to entry were just too high.  Once I got to a stage where they weren’t all that high, a fortunate coming together of some good friends launched a promotion and DJ company in 2005 and I’ve stuck with it all on my own since then.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

I’d say there were two tough things. 1) Working and practicing while overcoming a fear of failing. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to DJing. 2)  Trying to stand out from the many, many other DJs out there and offer something different.

There really wasn’t one person per se that helped me, but a bunch of individuals along the way, either with gigs, opportunities or even networking.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

The inspiration came from the 90’s when I was going to clubs with friends and for my love of being on the microphone.  There was also an article written by Paul Van Dyke long ago, entitled ‘Why I Do It’. That really spoke to me. These combined together, to keep motivating me to keep trying, keep networking and keep doing what I love.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

Just one?  Oh boy.  I guess the mistake would be the fear of making a mistake.  Fear is paralyzing. Fear is uncomfortable. Fear can be a companion and friend.  Just don’t always take advice from your friends :)

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

The biggest upcoming event for me will be headlining at this summer’s Mud Hero events, both in Toronto and north of the city. The goal; making the jump to doing more events and expand the podcast as well as working my way to getting on the bill for various events.  Both here and overseas.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

The biggest piece of advice I can suggest is to really listen to your vocation.  The advice comes subtly sometimes and tuning into that will lead you on the right path.  Ignoring it usually leads to some kind of discontent.  Be mindful of this.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

That about wraps it up for me.  Make sure you tune in and connect with me on social media, to get your sinfully mixed fix.  Ci vediamo tutti.
