Madison Maler: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Family.  I have always been inspired by the strength that my family consistently demonstrates when dealing with adversity or roadblocks.  Their belief in me is what drives me to do whatever I choose to do with  passion.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

Still working on getting a full grip on that concept.  I figure as long as I maintain integrity in everything I do and be true to myself, that question will eventually answer itself.

Why do you do what you do?

It’s fun, pays the bills, is a confidence booster (at times) and gets me off the couch and into the gym.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

I began thinking about modeling around 15 when my aunt took me to an open modeling casting call and several agencies took particular notice of me.  That is when I first began to believe maybe I could do this for fun.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

Well, I’ve never been called shy, but getting in front of a camera or speaking in public was never on my list of favorite things to do but doing a pageant once when I was 15 really helped me learn to do both.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

I don’t know if I have ever inspired anyone, but it would great to know that I have.  At 20, I guess I have enough time to inspire someone else somewhere down the road.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

Early on in my modeling career, I made the mistake of not being proactive enough. I assumed I could sit back and the agency would tell me and take me to where I wanted to be, I was wrong.  You have to be your own advocate and go after what you want for yourself.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

I plan on continuing my education in the hospitality field, working harder on my modeling career to include more travel and possibly going over to the “dark side” of management at Hooters.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Always be willing to laugh at yourself - Don’t take yourself so seriously.  Most of life’s rough spots can be looked at as interesting experiences in the end and don’t worry about what people think if you don’t have to have breakfast with them the next day.
