Greg Noire: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Life, Love and Family, respectively.

Life inspires me. Love fuels all passions. Family strengthens me.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

I’m Greg. Simply stated. Being “Greg” encompasses a guy who is no more, or less, a creator. It’s what I do every single day.

Why do you do what you do?

All I want to do is what I’m doing now, just on a greater scale. I love being a photographer and I’m grateful that I can make a living from doing what I am absolutely enamored by.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

After shooting my first concert for a Houston-based rap group (The Niceguys), I waqs 100% sold. There’s no other way I felt that I should be making a living. Shooting live music is the best.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

I’d say the toughest thing I had to do is change my way of thinking. A lot of my thoughts were negative for a while, and that’s probably how most of the people walking this Earth are-they’re just unaware because it’s the norm. Negativity is normal. I use to deal with thoughts of inadequacy and feeling like the work that I was producing wasn’t up to par with a lot of other photographer. I feel that since my thoughts were negative, my actions would reflect, thus putting out more negative energy into my life. My wife put me on to the Law of Attraction, which simply states that” like” attracts “like”, and that whatever you put out in to the world, you will receive back-karma, if you will. I started to change my outlook and output to positivity, and I my life has been amazing ever since. I owe my wife everything for the ally-oop.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

Photographer Aviva Klein’s interview on Life & Times really resonated with me. I’ve watched it like 20 times. She said something that was extremely impactful, yet simple. It was something around the lines of “a lot of people aren’t doing what they love to do for a living….why?” Great question. Life is way too short to not spend it doing what you love.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

Man, where the hell do I start? One major mistake I made was knowing that I didn’t like some of my earlier work, but not doing anything to do switch it up or create a new style. I was just going with the motions of being a photographer without actually being one. There was a couple of years what I was making good money doing the standard graduations and weddings, which is fine, but it’s not really me-at least not the way I was going about it. I was using other creator’s styles as a template, and I would just fill in the spaces with my work, pretty much.  Once I figured out who I was as a photographer, I started actually feeling like one, and it shows.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

My number 1 goal is putting on a special event later on this year. I’ll keep it hush-hush for now, but it’s definitely going to be amazing.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Keep it positive. Stay humble. Be grateful. Be gracious. Love yourself and love others. Keep going. Stay young.
