Good as Gold: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Our Families

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

Dreamers who are never fully satisfied. This may sound like an awful way to live but it keeps us searching for new adventures and exciting things to do. We’re addicted to travel and can’t stay in one place for more than a few months without itching to go abroad.

Why do you do what you do?

We don’t believe in building a career around something you aren’t passionate about. Life is too short. Educate yourself. You’ll always find a way to make money and pay bills. It’s cliché but true, do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

We have both stayed somewhat on track with what we went to school for. With backgrounds in Journalism and Fashion Management, building a blog together sort of came naturally. We both have a strong admiration for clothing and style and decided to work that into a creative outlet we could share with anyone who wanted to listen.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

There has definitely been a learning curve. Coding HTML, taking photography classes, dealing with frigid weather and rain while trying to take outfit photos, It’s all part of the experience! We have also had periods of time where the blog unfortunately had to take a back seat due to the demands of every day life. The toughest part is trying to turn blogging into a career. We’re still working on it, with the support of each other of course!

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)?

Margaret Zhang - She’s the creative director of the popular Australian blog Shine by Three, a brand ambassador for a list of designers, a law student at Sydney University and a top ballet dancer. We should mention she’s only 21 years old.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

Something we want to improve on is trying to stay motivated and consistent. Since blogging isn’t the most steady-paced job, we sometimes struggle to create new content consistently. We have learnt that inspiration can come from anywhere.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

We will be styling fashion shoots more frequently, and we will have a bit more of a focus on some travels.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Something that has always resonated with us is “never forget why you started”. Oftentimes the purely competitive nature of the industry coupled with a lapse in inspiration can lead to forgetting why we love blogging so much in the first place. We started Good as Gold as a way to share our infatuation with lifestyle, clothing, designers, and styling with anyone who is interested in our unique voice. It brings us so much joy and gratification and has been so rewarding in so many ways. If you find your passion, stick with it and always remind yourself of the satisfaction it brings you.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Don’t be afraid to experiment with outfits. Life is too short to wear boring clothes!
