FDJT: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Elton John. My heart will always be in piano, and music aside the man has had a tremendous impact on the world.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

I’m a pizza enthusiast who enjoys sarcasm and producing/playing music.

Why do you do what you do?

It’s something I have fun doing that has an impact on peoples lives, even in small ways. Knowing people enjoy my productions or had a good night because of my set is the most rewarding feeling in the world.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

I always thought it would be awesome to be able to have a career in music, but I never really saw it as feasibly possible until towards the end of 2013/beginning of 2014. I started getting booked to open for Sander Van Doorn, Felix Cartal, GTA, Vicetone, Cazzette amongst other various club bookings and I knew nothing would ever match the feeling of getting on stage in front of 500, 750, 1000 people.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

You live a completely different life from what people consider normal. You’re up 4-6 times a week until at least 3:30am, it’s hard to keep in touch with people who work normal 9-5’s and such. You have to find a time for producing, I set aside blocks of time (2-3 day periods) to just catch up on edits, originals, mixes, media, etc, so I can leave days completely open to catch up with people.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

I don’t know I’ve ever inspired anyone, I’m just happy people enjoy my music haha. As for my inspirations, I have tons of people I look up to, but I’ll just say every musician that has risked everything to chase their dreams, big or small.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

Don’t accept every booking that comes your way. Sometimes saying no is the best thing for your career.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

I’m working on my third EP as we speak. I’m hoping to have it out by the end of July or into August. As for DJing I should be making my rounds in Southwestern Ontario in the coming months!

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Set a goal and get it done. Do what you want, and how you want to, but get it done. Everyone is going to have an opinion, but you have to live with yourself. So just do things your way, and don’t stop until you attain what you set out to do.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Please, for the love of God can we stop with the big room generic bangers? Every time I hear Dmitri Vegas or DVBBS it makes me severely contemplate my career choice.
