Ernie Sega: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Inspiration – Creativity. Passion – Hard Work. Strength - Success

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

A deep-rooted music junkie that simply loves to share his passion with others.

Why do you do what you do?

I do it for me. It’s hard to explain, it’s just a part of who I am that has always been around and will never go away. I do it to satisfy myself and I’m blessed to be able to share it with others.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

I’ve always had a passion for music. As a young teenager I used to listen to a lot of music with my older brother. Being five years older than me, he was exposed to the nightclubs long before I was so through him I got to experience house music and DJs from both the nightclubs and on the radio. It basically just snowballed from there.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

My own mind as I’m easily my biggest critic. I’ve learned that a constant strive for perfection can really hinder your progress and creativity. It’s important to pressure yourself to achieve a certain level but this can easily get out of hand. Sometimes we do our best work when we just relax and let things flow or groove naturally.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

Teaming up with the FloorPlay Group was an eye opener for me. The amount of passion and dedication in that organization really proved to me that I could pursue a career in this industry.

I don’t know that it’s happened yet but I’d like to be an inspiration to somebody someday.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

You don’t get very far by just staying in your home studio developing your skills, no matter how good your music is. Getting out, networking, socializing, and pushing your sound is all part of the recipe for success.

I made this mistake early on in my career and my current success is largely due to all those I’ve connected with since then.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

I’m always in the studio working on new music in-between gigs. Still trying to find my own sound with the goal of eventually releasing an EP.

As a FloorPlay Group resident, there is a lot in store for the summer season. We have all bases covered with our NightLife, DayLife and LifeStyle events.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Be humble, be patient, and most of all, be self-aware.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Anybody up for some chicken and waffles?
