Ceerouse: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Experience, entertainment, and vulnerability.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

Well isn’t that the million dollar question? I’m your perception of me.

I just am.

Why do you do what you do?

Sanity? I find the way my head works really interesting, so when I

conjure up my choons, it’s cool to have something out in the world

that people listen to and enjoy, but there are still levels to it that are

hidden just for me.

And I like bringing people out of their comfort zone. The nature of my

style tends to do that.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you

to choose it?

In grade five I knew.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

In grade five I knew. I had periods of trying to do everything but

music because I wasn’t really encouraged by the people around me as

a kid. I kept getting bored of everything else and it just kept coming

back to music for me, so I just went with it.

So after coming out of my mother, I promptly started getting my own

studio together . That was definitely a motivating factor. Then I just

taught myself to mix, put out a a couple projects, met my manager

Max, shot a crazy music video, and now here we are; Babes n’ Gents.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

My past really. In some ways it fueled my creation, but it left me

pretty fucked up. Before I released my last project as Concept (my old

stage name), I took four months off of everything and disappeared to

figure out some of my own stuff.

As to what helped me? The people I had in my life at the time, and

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

My aunt Salome has by far been the biggest influence in my life.

She’s really cool and has honestly been like my best friend as long as

I can remember. She’s the youngest one in the family and we’ve

traveled similar paths so she gets it.

I can honestly say because of her influence I’ve decided to chase my

dreams and not settle for anything less… excuse me I’m tearing up...

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

I really don’t think people make mistakes, they just create learning

opportunities. But shit, my life has been chalk full of those.

Probably the most important thing I’ve learned is to never feel sorry

for yourself… oh and wear protection...

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

My EP Supervillain finally dropped. You should listen. It'll leave you horrified, offended, and stupidly entertained >:)… I’m really excited to have wrapped up it up and finally put it out.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

If someone tells you your goals aren’t ‘realistic’ mushroom-slap them.

But seriously, know what you want and don’t stop until you get it.

And don’t forget to dream.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Yeah, I really dig Cheerieos with honey and feta cheese. I swear it’s

the bomb. (but like, with rice milk)
