Cameron Feldhaus: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

Give the best of yourself to LA, you will get nothing but the best from LA.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

A positive motivator for the masses. Along with my accomplishments in life thus far, I believe success is not about just about “you” it is about “we”. Inspire the masses, so their futures are just as bright as yours. It is about lifting other people up, along with your lift-ups. That is how you will be successful. Successful at making people successful. That is success.

Why do you do what you do?

I want to own every second in this world that it could possibly give. See so many places and look back at the things I did, that way I can say to myself, “I swear I lived.” I have never worked a day in my life. The passion, energy, drive, motivation, devotion and perseverance is something that is organic to me and I honestly love to wake up out of bed before the competition and close my eyes after the completion is asleep. But what wakes me up in the morning is pure desire to achieve more. I am hungry for knowledge, hungry for experiences, hungry for life. The whole thing is to learn everyday, to get brighter and brighter. That’s what the world is about. And for one wondering how I could never work a day in my life, but seem to have it all…I suggest finding your passion, make it your dinner and if you eat it for breakfast in the morning, then you as well will love what you do, and never work another day in your life. Ignite that spark that is within you!

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

I began modeling at the age of 19 by first signing with Jake Lang, agent and owner of Wings Model Management in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I was then recognized for a test shoot by DXFX Photography which ultimately starting rolling the ball for my career. Under Lang's management, I was invited to cast for a Bob Evans commercial and the Smucker's Brand. In addition, to being signed in Cincinnati, am signed with Boom Models & Talent in San Francisco, Casting Networks in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles & Staffing 911 as a high-end catering model in New York, Hamptons, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Palm Beach. There have also been some major modeling agencies contacting me recently in New York and Los Angeles about their interest. In addition, celebrity photographer Bradford Rogne in downtown Los Angeles and other various photographers such as Elisabeth Summer in Malibu have featured me.  Over the summer I was formally invited to cast in Made in Chelsea on Esquire Network, Living Different on Oxygen Network and commercials such as JC Penny and Kohl's Fall. My most recent work has been in New York City and featured in the Columbia University SAG film, I'm Sticking With You.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

The most difficult part about being in the modeling and entertainment industry is dealing with rejection on a multitude of levels. I have be told that I was too fat, too skinny, too short, too tall, that my eye brows were not the color they were looking for, that my hair was too short for the shoot, and worse of all that I should just give up and go into another industry. Setting of the negative comments and nasty remarks by scouting agents, casting directors and producers aside, I no longer take any comments made in the casting rooms or studios personally. Most people would just give up because they cannot stand rejection, but one needs to realize you will get 99 no’s before 1 yes. And that one 1 yes is all you need to become successful in this industry. It is nothing but a snowball effect. I realize that even though all these comments can be made, at the end of the day I will not change for anyone. I am walking art, if one cannot find the beauty in imperfections then I will walk away with nothing to loose and everything to gain.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

I have tons of inspirations and mentors in my life, too many to mention all. But the entire city of Los Angeles itself is an inspiration and motivation. It is the hustle, the bustle, the energy of the waves in Malibu, the radiant sun that forever shines at least 350 day out of the year, the snowless winters, the majestic view on top of the Hollywood Hills at night, the palm tree lined streets of Beverly Hills. This city is unbelievable and if one has the positive energy, the positive drive, the positive motivation to succeed, then I’m positive anything is possible in this magical city. If you give the best of yourself to LA, you will get nothing but the best from LA.

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

The biggest mistake I have made in my life is not seeing the positives out of the negatives earlier, I wish I would have started to develop that vision five years ago because it has changed my entire perspective of life and business in the best possible way. Positive energy is viral, once one has that type of energy, everyone wants to be a part of it.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

I am moving into my new house in Beverly Hills in January!

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Whenever you see a successful person, you only see the public glories, never the private sacrifices to reach them. Never give up on a dream, make it a reality!

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Even if you don’t live in sunny California, always bring your own sunshine to every occasion. People are attracted to radiance.
