Alexa Safran: Interview

The first words that comes to your mind when you hear Inspiration, Passion, and Strength

My mother.

Who are you? (Answer how you interpret this question)

I'm a leather jacket, ripped jeans and a pair of converse.

Why do you do what you do?

Like I mentioned earlier, I was introduced to modeling at a young age, but I really only fell in love with it recently. I love the days I get to shoot. It's always a blast, and let's be honest, I would probably be fired from any type of corporate job! I've got little to no filter... So this ended up working out pretty well for me.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do, and what events led you to choose it?

I realized about a year ago that this was 150% what I wanted to do with my life and just recently started really running after it.

Toughest thing you had to overcome to do what you do? And what/who helped you?

My confidence. Growing up I was pretty damn insecure. It took me a long time not to be incredibly camera shy. I even still am sometimes. Being blessed with the chance to model has given me the tools to really be okay and become who I truly am.

Has anyone/anything ever inspired you to become who you are (to follow your dreams)? Have you ever inspired anyone directly?

All of my close friends have always been incredibly supportive with this. They're always pushing me to take jobs I sometimes don't want too. My fiancé is my biggest fan. He's always encouraging me. As for inspiring people, I've been told that I have but who really knows. The sweetest people look up to me and I don't even know why!

One mistake that you made in your journey? How have you learnt from them?

A big mistake I made was always comparing myself to other girls. Models or not. What I didn't realize then, was not looking like anyone else is the biggest advantage I have. We're all individuals, and that's what draws in certain people or companies. Nobody wants to see the same type of girl on a magazine cover every month. Being different, looking different... It's the best thing. Diversity. And everyone's different. That's what makes them beautiful.

Upcoming projects? Plans/goal? (about anything, if you have any)

I do have quite a handful of upcoming projects! Some I cannot share. I can say however, before the end of the year I am very excited to shoot with Larsen Sorento, and Isaac Zoller. I'm going to be doing some stuff for Koro Australia, Luna B, Joah Brown, Rose Gypsy... Keep ya eyes peeled.

What advice would you give to other people? (Just about life in general - It could be about anything)

Be true to you. Don't try and impress anyone or be anyone else. I did that for too long and I learned being me actually made people like me more. I say love who you love, and never lose the drive to accomplish your real dreams. Don't settle. Life's too short. You honestly can do whatever you put your mind too. I truly believe that.

Say anything you want, about anything (Last words)

Thanks for being interested enough in what I say to make it to the bottom of this interview! xx
